Activities of the Department
- The Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Amrita College of Engineering and Technology, Nagercoil, organised National Level Technical Symposium “INNOTSAV 2K23”on 25th March,2023. Dr. T. Kannan, Principal and Mr. Prabhakaran, Administrative Manager inaugurated the event. Dr. P.M. Siva Raja, Head of the Department, felicitated the function. Students from various colleges attended
and explored their skills in various technical and non-technical events. Mrs.R.P.Sumithra, Assistant Professor, coordinated the event.
- Code Club, Amrita College of Engineering and Technology, organized a webinar "Automation Tools in Software Testing" on 09.04.2022, 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm by Mr. Belvin Christopher, Manager-Quality Assurance Engineer, Fiserv, USA.
- Computer Society of India, Student chapter organized Inauguration CSI student chapter followed by an event "Project Idea Presentation" on 20.04.2022 from 11 am to 12.30 pm.
- On 20th APRIL 2022, Department of CSE, Department of Mechanical Engineering & Department of ECE at Amrita college of Engineering and Technology in Association with IE(I) Students' chapter Organized a Technical seminar On "Digital Transformation".
- ISTE Student Chapter, Amrita College of Engineering and Technology is organised a webinar on "Cyber Security" in Association with AICTE Training And Learning (ATAL) Academy, November 2021, 11:00 am to 12:30 pm.
- In association with Newton School, Amrita Coding Club organized a "Coding Contest" on 29th October 2021.
- Virtual power seminar on "Cloud computing" in association with ICT Academy, Chennai on June 8th, 2021. Resource Person: Mr. Dilip Muralidaran, Senior Technical Instructor, Splunk, Chennai.
- ISTE Student Chapter of Amrita College of Engineering and Technology organized a Quiz Competition "Trick Monsters" on 24-5-2021 at 10:00 am.
- Department of Computer Science and Engineering , Amrita College of Engineering and Technology, Nagercoil organized virtual power seminar on "RPI FOR ALL" in association with ICT Academy, Chennai on January 20th 2021. Resource Person: Mr. Saravanan G, Head-Strategic Alliances, ICT Academy, Chennai.
- The Department of Computer Science and Engineering in association with ISTE (Indian Society for Technical Education) Student Chapter conducted an Elocution competition on World Water Day, 22 March 2021, on the topic "water conservation" for the students who had flair for speaking. Students of II and III years of Computer Science Department participated in this contest.
- The Institution of Engineers (India), Student chapters of Computer Science and Engineering and Electronics and Communication Engineering are celebrating the World Engineers Day and conducting a Technical Seminar on the topic "Engineering for A Healthy Planet" on March 5, 2021, 03:30 PM to 04:30 PM. Er. S NATARAJAN Chief Engineer (Retd.), PWD, Tamil Nadu, will deliver the keynote address.
- ISTE Student Chapter Conducted one-day Hands-on training Latex for members of faculty, research scholars, and students of various institutions, 14 February 2020.
- ISTE Student Chapter organised an Intra college Technical Paper Presentation on 1st February 2020 at CSE lab from 3:30PM to 4:50 PM.
- Department of Computer Science and Engineering is organizing National Compufest "AURORA-2021" and various technical events with the primary focus on providing opportunity to hone Life skills of students along with exposing them to the latest technologies from 30 April 2021 to 1 May 2021. Students of Engineering Programmes across the country are invited to register and participate in the technical events.
- One-day workshop on Latex was organized jointly by Department of Computer Science Engineering and Department of Mathematics on 14-03-2020 in Amrita College of Engineering and Technology. PG final year students, M.Phil and Ph.D Research Scholars, faculty members from our college and other college participated in the event.
- The Department of Computer Science and Engineering in association with ISTE (Indian Society for Technical Education) Student Chapter conducted a "Technical Paper Presentation" for students of our college on 1st February 2020 at CSE lab from 3:30PM to 4:50 PM.
- Conduced ICT Academy sponsored Two Day FDP on Teaching Skills for ACET and nearby college Faculty members, 2-3, May 2019.
- A talk on the "Career benefits of Competitive Programming" was organized for the Code Club members on 6-11-2019 from 4:50 pm to 5:50 pm at the CSE Department. Ms. Sindhuja S, Assistant Professor, Department of CSE, Amrita College of Engineering and Technology, addressed the code club members on competitive programming and the changing perceptions of coding and technology.

Students Chapter Inauguration
Department of Civil Engineering of Amrita College of Engineering and Technology organized students' chapter inauguration program of Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), Hyderabad virtually on 07.09.2022 (10.30 am to 11.30 am). The program started with a prayer song and Tamil Thai Vazhthu, followed by a welcome address by Mr. M.S. Sabarish (II Year - B. E. Civil Engg.). Mr. M. L. Dibin Raj (IV Year - B. E. Civil Engg.) introduced the Chief Guest Mr. Rajesh B. Lund, IGBC Chairman - Coimbatore Chapter. The chief guest launched the Students Chapter and addressed the event. He shared information about the formation and vision of the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC). Guest Speaker Sri Rekha Mavulati, Architect, shared the concepts of green building, its movement in India, and also the services offered by IGBC. The objective of this program is to facilitate a holistic approach to create environment-friendly buildings, through architectural design, water efficiency, effective handling of waste, energy efficiency, sustainable buildings, and focus on occupant comfort & well-being knowledge to the students. Vote of Thanks for the program was given by Mrs. S. Swapna Nagendran (IV Year - Civil Engg.) and the program ended with the National Anthem.
This program was coordinated by Mrs. S. Anisha, Assistant Professor, Civil Engineering and completed successfully under the guidance of Dr. T. Kannan, Principal and Mr. V. Prabhakaran, Admin Manager.

2nd National Level Technical Symposium
Department of Civil Engineering has organized the 2nd National Level Technical Symposium "HANOVER - 23" on 1st April, 2023. Students from various colleges in and around Kanyakumari participated in technical and non-technical events and won prizes. Certificates were provided to all the participants. Mr. M. Petchikkan, Assistant Professor / Civil Engg. coordinated the programme.

Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, Veli and Liquid
Propulsion Systems Centre, Valiamala
The Department of Civil Engineering organized a one day visit to Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, Veli and Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre, Valiamala for B.E II, III and IV year students on 20-04-2022. Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), Thiruvananthapuram, is the lead centre of ISRO responsible for the design and development of launch vehicle technology. The Centre pursues active research and development in the fields of aeronautics, avionics, materials, mechanisms, vehicle integration, chemicals, propulsion, space ordnance, structures, space physics and systems reliability. The student team along with four faculty members visited VSSC space museum and witnessed the launch of space vehicle RH-200, used for the purpose of meteorological studies.
The Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre (LPSC) is a research and development centre functioning under Indian Space Research Organization. LPSC is engaged in development of liquid and cryogenic propulsion stages for launch vehicles and auxiliary propulsion systems for both launch vehicles and satellites.
The student team had a great opportunity to meet and interact with Dr. V Narayanan (Director of LPSC).The student team have visited LPSC library and its various testing centres. The officials at LPSC briefly explained the students about its functions and upcoming missions.

Water treatment plant, Arumanallur (Kanyakumari
District)
The Department of Civil Engineering organized an industrial visit to Water treatment plant, Arumanallur (Kanyakumari District) for B.E II, III and IV year students on 15-12-2021. Raw water from Kodayar river is collected by off take wells installed near Kaliyal and collected at 19.15 MLD capacity treatment plant at Arumanallur. After treatment, the water will be pumped to the proposed stand post. The water collected in the stand post will be supplied to all 9 Town Panchayats and 246 habitations through a network of 4 booster stations. Students also visited off take well at Kaliyal (Kodayar river).
The main objective of the visit was to show the students the various processes involved in Water supply system including Sources, Transportation, Treatment and Distribution of water. The students gained some important insights through an interaction session by Mr. Shankar D (AEE, TWAD, Nagercoil).

Filter House, Nagercoil
One day industrial visit to the Filter House, Nagercoil was arranged for the students of III and IV year B.E., Civil Engineering along with two faculty members on 05.03.2021. The drinking water filtration plant in Nagercoil popularly known as "filter house", filters the drinking water being supplied from Mukkadal dam to Nagercoil town and surrounding areas. Dr. G. Gopalakrishnan, Assistant Executive Engineer, TWAD explained the functions of various components and methodology of filtration to the student members.

ACTIVITIES OF THE DEPARTMENT
- A Deworming Camp was organized at AMRITA College of Engineering and Technology under the National Deworming Programme in March 2022. Deworming tablets were distributed for all the Engineering students on 24.03.2022 by the Academic Director and the Principal. All the students were benefited. This programme was organized by Dr. A. Kumar, NSS officer.
- Anna University and Amrita College of Engineering and Technology jointly organized the National Service Scheme Special Camp programme from 25.03.2022 to 31.03.2022 at the Community Hall near Erachakulam. This programme was organized by Dr. A. Kumar, NSS officer.
- The National Science Day was celebrated on February 28, 2022 to mark the anniversary of the 'Raman Effect' by the Physicist Sir ChandrashekharaVenkata Raman, popularly known as C.V. Raman. The Department of Science and Humanities in association with Science Club of AMRITA College of Engineering and Technology, Nagercoil. This event is coordinate by Dr. S. SaravanaVeni. The Head of the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Dr. S. V. Mahesh Kumar felicitated the gathering and addressed the significance of National Science Day. More than 50 students participated and presented their Paper and Projects. The top three winners were bestowed with the best paper presentation and project Expo award. Dr. S. Raja, Head of the Department of Science & Humanities delivered the vote of thanks.
- Marking the 134th birth anniversary of Srinivasa Ramanajum, the Department of Mathematics- S&H, Amrita College of Engineering and Technology organized the "Sudoku Competition" for the first year students on 22nd December 2021. . The programme was coordinated and led by Mr. N. Vairavasamy, AP/ Mathematics. A large number of first year students participated enthusiastically in this competition. Various brain- challenging questions were asked that tested their aptitude and reasoning skills. Participants actively answered every question with meticulous attention and critical analysis. The top three scorers were lauded by the Department of S& H with trophies and certificates. The winners were Aswin Sindhu S K, ECE, Sarveesvaran S S , CSE and Nandish Ram R S , CSE department. The participants shared their experience in participation and they were thrilled to bits to be a part of this programme. Dr. V. Viswanath Shenoi acted as the guest of honour for this occasion. He addressed the importance of Mathematics and its applications in the field of engineering and industrial problems.

This visit was for two days, from 5th to 6th July 2023. They encompassed two fascinating destinations: Kaynes Technology India Limited in Mysore, Karnataka and the renowned Dodabetta Tea Factory & Tea Museum in Ooty, Tamil Nadu. The Faculty members Dr. Kumar A, Mrs. Akshera RV, and Ms. Saranya SM, accompanied the students. The visit is very useful for the students for developing their managerial skills.
