ME - Computer Science & Engineering
The department of Computer Science & Engineering was established in the academic year 1999-2000 with an annual intake of 60. The intake has been increased to 120 from the academic year 2018-19. The Department offers B. E. (Computer Science & Engineering), M. E. (Computer Science & Technology). The UG-CSE Programme and PG-CSE Programme are affiliated by Anna University, Chennai and accredited by AICTE, New Delhi.
The department has a dedicated team of 15 experienced and professionally qualified faculty members providing excellence in teaching and research. The team has four doctorate professionals and seven faculty members currently pursuing doctorates. The faculty members are from diverse streams and specializations. Some of the major areas of research interest are Cloud Computing, Resource Allocation, Sensor Networks, Network Security, Data Analytics, Machine Learning, Image Processing, Optimization, Data Security, Wireless Sensor Networks and IoT (Internet of Things). This department is unique because of its well-qualified, experienced, and dedicative faculty who are committed to teaching and passionate about research & development.
The department has ambient classrooms equipped with ICT enabled learning technologies and state-of-the-art laboratories. The computer labs are equipped with i3 and i7 machines loaded with software required for handling various laboratories, and are Wi-Fi enabled.
Students are having an opportunity to work as interns in various IT and ITES companies around the country. We also provide placement opportunities through potential recruiters like IBM, Infosys, TCS, HCL, Wipro, CTS, Honeywell, Amazon, etc. with dedicated placement training as a part of the curriculum. The department provides quality education and produces highly skilled graduates, who are in demand in the current IT industry.

BE - Electrical and Electronics Engineering
The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering is established in the year 2002. The first batch of EEE students under Amrita College of Engineering and Technology was admitted in the academic year 2018–2019. Currently, it offers a 4 year Under-Graduate programme, B.E. Electrical and Electronics Engineering with a sanctioned intake of 60 students.The department is deeply committed to achieving goals based on the vision and mission of Mata Amritanandmayi Math.
The department provides a value-based, high-quality learning experience that prepares students for future professional challenges through excellent education, intellectual interaction, and training. The department has a team of highly qualified and competent faculty members with a wide range of industry and academic expertise. The department has well equipped and fully functional laboratories, viz Electrical Machines laboratory, Control Systems laboratory, Power Electronics laboratory, Engineering Practices laboratory, Power System Simulation laboratory, Electronics laboratory, Renewable Energy Systems laboratory and excellent computational facilities with the most up-to-date configuration software, such as AUTOCAD,MATLAB, ETAP and PSCAD, to support academic and research activities.It equips students with in-depth knowledge of the basics and practical applications, allowing them to explore a variety of career opportunities. A Smart Classroom is established in the department to enhance teaching and learning opportunities and enabling faculty to educate through a range of media.
The department organizes workshops, seminars and guest lectures frequently, which welcomes prominent academicians and industry experts to keep students and faculty mebers up-to-date on the current developments.It also enables students to interact with industry experts and professionals from other renowned institutions. Students go on industrial visits and undergo internships, and in-plant training at reputable organizations to gain practical knowledge.Industrial projects are encouraged for students. Students are also encouraged to present papers at symposiums and conferences. Students are regularly offered industry-relevant value-added courses such as electrical wiring, embedded C programming, Arduino programming, and MATLAB programming. Placement training programmes from third semester onwards are being organized for the welfare of students.Faculty members are encouraged to present papers at the national and international conferences, and to publish papers in reputable journals.Students are also advised to receive memberships from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and Indian Society of Technical Education. In addition to the central library, the department has its own library with significant volumes of textbooks and technical journals in order to cater to the requirements of the students.
The department has an Energy Club that brings together students, academicians, entrepreneurs, and the general public to motivate and teach them about energy saving and safety procedures. Quiz Club, also actively organise events for the benefit of students'. The department has established a Centre for energy studies to strengthen the fundamental competence of students and faculty members. Special emphasis is laid on renewable energy sources such as photovoltaic and wind, in tune with emerging technological needs and challenges.
BE - Civil Engineering
Civil Engineering is a wide field of engineering concerned with the planning, design, analysis, estimation, construction, and maintenance of structures, or public works, as they are related to the earth, water, or civilization and their processes. Predominantly, Civil Engineering may be regarded as the profession that makes the world a more agreeable place to live in.
The Department of Civil Engineering at Amrita College of Engineering and Technology was started way back in 2002 and has been continuing its glorious journey ever since. The department offers an undergraduate programme in Civil Engineering with an annual intake of 30 students. The curriculum, as per the Anna University Regulation covers subjects such as Structural Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Surveying, Construction materials, Water Resources and Environmental Engineering. This programme aims to provide quality education in Civil Engineering keeping in pace with the current and futuristic demands in this field.
The faculty team of this department consists of a rich blend of experienced academic and industry professionals. This department is equipped with excellent laboratory facilities. The major laboratories include Strength of Materials Laboratory, Fluid Mechanics Laboratory, Soil Mechanics Laboratory, Concrete and Highway Engineering Laboratory, Environmental Engineering Laboratory and Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CAD) Laboratory. These laboratories endowed with advanced instruments and equipment play a crucial role in imparting hands-on experience and practical skills to the students.
Students are encouraged to participate in National and International Level Seminars, Workshops and Conferences organized by Research organizations such as CECRI, SERC, and Institutes of Excellence like NITs and IITs. In order to expose the students to recent technological advances, Guest Lectures are arranged inviting eminent Scientists, Technocrats, Industrialist and Professors. Internships, In-plant training and Industrial Visits are also arranged for the students to gain practical knowledge.
This department conducts Survey Camp every year to groom our students with essential knowledge and exposure to factual work, and to encourage leadership and teamwork skills. The department has a dedicated library for the benefit of students' and staff.
Natural Club actively organizes two events per semester for the students. The department is also an annual member of the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC). The Department takes great pride in delivering technically competent and ethically responsible engineers to society, and it commits to continuing to do so.
ME - Embedded System
Electronics and Communication Engineering is a core area and one of the broadest engineering disciplines. ECE students at Amrita College of Engineering & Technology (ACET) get abundantly familiarized with Electronics, Communication technologies, High speed processors, Embedded systems etc.
The department of ECE, ACET provides a value-based quality learning experience, inculcated through quality instruction, academic exchange and training that prepares students for professional challenges ahead. The department boasts of highly qualified faculty members with rich and varied experience both in industry and the academia.
ECE courses focus heavily on Analogue and Digital electronics, Microelectronics, Computer Networking, Consumer Electronics and Embedded Systems. Special Emphasis is laid on latest processors such as Raspberry Pi, in tune with emerging technological needs and challenges. The curriculum for the Four-year full-time (Regular) B.E. (ECE) course has been developed by the Board of Studies, Anna University, Chennai. Currently, Anna University Regulation 2017 (Choice Based Credit System) is followed. The regulation has been updated as R-2021 and is being followed from the year 2021.

BE - Mechanical Engineering
Mechanical Engineering is one of the oldest engineering disciplines. Mechanical Engineers use the principles of energy, materials, and mechanics to design and develop equipment, devices, processes and systems for all types of industries. This domain has got great scope for innovation through designing new products, developing new materials and manufacturing processes to make the product cheaper by increasing its operation life.
The college offers a 4-year regular (full-time) B.E programme in Mechanical Engineering. The annual intake of students is 60. During the four-year study period, students are taught and practiced in the areas of manufacturing technology, theory of machines, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, materials science, thermal engineering and heat transfer, CAD/CAM, production planning, managerial concepts, etc. In addition, students can specialise in areas such as robotics, cryogenics, fuel technology, automotive engineering, biomechanics, vibration, etc. by choosing appropriate elective courses under the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) followed under Anna University Regulations 2017.
The students are also provided with soft skills and technical skills training every semester to make them industry-ready engineers. Further, students are provided with the opportunity to undergo skill training in mechanical engineering software such as AutoCAD, Solid WORKS, ANSYS, etc. Students interested in pursuing higher studies are supported with GATE coaching on regular basis.
BE - Science & Humanities
The Department of Science and Humanities of our college is triumphant in enabling students to adapt well to higher education environment after school education. This is thoughtfully achieved by our experienced and highly qualified members of faculty. The aim of the team is not only to make the students succeed but also to make them handle emotions with the timely moral support. The focus is completely on value-based and outcome-based teaching and learning.
The Department is an abode of excellent classrooms, faculty rooms, a waiting hall, a library, laboratory facilities and other amenities. The disciplines instructed in the department are Communicative and Technical English, Interpersonal skills, Professional communication, Business English, Engineering Mathematics, Engineering Physics, Material science, Engineering Chemistry and Environmental Science and Engineering at different levels of the four year course. The curricular courses of Engineering Graphics, Python Programming, Electrical Circuits, Electronic Devices and Circuits, Basic Civil and Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, etc… are introduced and deep knowledge is imparted to the novel first year students every year by the extended service of the Engineering Departments under the mentorship of the department of Science and Humanities. The primary objective of the department is to make the first-year undergraduate students admitted in various engineering courses to understand the basic concepts of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and other engineering fundamental courses thereby enabling them to enhance their communicative skills, aptitude skills, and personal and professional skills.
Every year the department organizes programs on Clay Modeling, Project Demonstrations, Vedic Mathematics, Personality Development, Yoga, Career Development and Counseling both by the in-house experts and by inviting eminent resource persons from various institutes to develop creative skills of the students.
The first semester of the four-year B.E degree program is common to all students from the various branches of engineering and technology. During the 2ndSemester, in addition to the science courses, specific fundamentals of engineering courses are introduced to equip the students with an understanding of the fundamental principles and concepts of respective engineering discipline. The major disciplines of Science and Humanities are English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
Our English team is consistently working for the enrichment of the language and creates an eagerness to appreciate the language in its ingenuity to the students. The main focus is to improve their LSRW (Listening, Speaking, Reading & Writing) proficiency, proficiency in Spoken English with the Elements and Components of English language, Business English & vocabulary, Group Discussions, Interview skills, personal interviews etc. The Department meticulously trains and guides the students to excel in various competitions organized by varied organizations and also facilitates the students to perform well in GRE, TOEFL, GMAT, IELTS, GATE, BEC, and other competitive & entrance examinations.
Engineering is completely based on mathematics. There are several reasons why mathematics is important for engineers. As all the Laws of Nature are in mathematical expressions, it is rightly called the queen of science, even computers has mathematical relation, serves as the language of all the sciences. Our math team is taking stupendous effort to make the students more analytic and logic. They focus on students’ intellectual maturity. They train students in logical aspects to face all the competitive exams including GATE.
Our Physics team leads the students to apply their knowledge and also trains them for competitive exams. Physics is the subject of application every engineer needs it. In designing and constructing Civil Engineering uses the concepts of gravity, fluidity, forces and energy production. In the concepts of optics and circuits Electrical and Electronics Engineering uses the principle physics of current and resistance. The principles of molecular forces are used in industries in designing systems. Fluid motion, air flow and force and pressure principles are used in Mechanical Engineering.
Engineering means making, to make, there are numerous raw materials. It is the subject of chemistry that teaches how to treat a raw material into a usable product. Our Chemistry team helps the students to think experimentally and to create things more safe and effective. Chemistry shows its incompatibility in every aspects of daily life and this understanding among students is the faculties’ ultimate aim.
Master of Business Administration
The Department of Management Studies at Amrita College of Engineering & Technology offers a two-year full-time M.B.A program as per the regulations and curriculum of Anna University, Chennai. The department is committed to imparting quality education to students through various professional deeds. This program assists students in developing skills to meet the challenges of a competitive environment through academic and industrial lectures, personality development programs, presentations, case studies, and guest lectures. The department also inculcates confidence in the minds of students and works to develop them as entrepreneurs. It builds up expertise for counselling activities by providing opportunities for industry-institute interaction. The students are expected to have the necessary managerial skills to fit into any of the above options, for which AMRITA provides opportunities to aspiring managers through group discussions, internships in industries, and doing individual semester-end business projects that are implemented in practice. The faculty team is well trained to help the budding managers with a range of soft-skills like communication, motivation, negotiation, etc. The team members dedicate themselves to constantly upgrading the technical skills needed to produce proficient professionals to cater to the needs of society and meet the global challenges.
