The Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) is a national, professional, non-profit making Society registered under the Societies Registration Act of 1860. First started in 1941 as the Association of Principals of Technical Institutions (APTI), it was converted into "Indian Society for Technical Education" in 1968 with a view to enlarge its activities to advance the cause of technological education. The major objective of the ISTE is to assist Technical Institutions in the country in the production and development of top-quality professional engineers and technicians needed by the industries and other organizations.

Being the largest national organization of educators in the field of Engineering and Technology with more than 1,02,985 Staff Members and around 5.5 lakh student members, 2,410 Institutional Members, 1,214 Faculty Chapters and 1,322 Student Chapters.

ISTE Students' Chapter at Amrita College of Engineering and Technology has been established in October 2019 with 135 student members of ISTE. Our college is an Institutional Member of ISTE.

Objectives
  • To provide quality training programmes to teachers and administrators of technical institutions to update their knowledge and skills in their fields of activity.
  • To assist and contribute in the production and development of top-quality professional engineers and technicians needed by the industry and other organizations.
  • To provide guidance and training to students to develop better learning skills and personality.
  • To develop the leadership skills among students.
  • To support organising various events like seminars, lectures and training programs.

Events Organized of ISTE - Student Chapter
  • The Department of Computer Science and Engineering in association with ISTE Student Chapter organized the National Compufest “AURORA-2021” and various technical events with the primary focus on providing opportunity to hone the Life skills of students along with exposing them to the latest technologies from April 30th, 2021 to May 1st, 2021. Students of Engineering Programmes across the country are invited to register and participate in the technical events.
  • The ISTE Student Chapter organised an Intra college Technical Paper Presentation on February 1, 2020 at CSE Lab from 3:30 PM to 4:50 PM.
  • The ISTE Student Chapter conducted a one-day hands-on training course in Latex for members of the faculty, research scholars, and students of various institutions on February 14, 2020.
  • The ISTE Student Chapter, Amrita College of Engineering and Technology organised a webinar on “Cyber Security” in Association with AICTE Training and Learning (ATAL) Academy, November 2021, 11:00 am to 12:30 pm.
  • ISTE Student Chapter of Amrita College of Engineering and Technology organized a Quiz Competition "Trick Monsters" on May 24th 2021 at 10:00 am.
Achievements | ISTE Student Chapter
  • ISTE Student member Ms S. P. Supriya was awarded the "Best Student" Award at the ISTE Convention held during the year 2019, at PSG Institute of Technology and Applied Research, Coimbatore, on December 18, 2019. The theme of the convention is "Industry 4.0".
