BE - Electrical and Electronics Engineering
The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering is established in the year 2002. The first batch of EEE students under Amrita College of Engineering and Technology was admitted in the academic year 2018–2019. Currently, it offers a 4 year Under-Graduate programme, B.E. Electrical and Electronics Engineering with a sanctioned intake of 60 students.The department is deeply committed to achieving goals based on the vision and mission of Mata Amritanandmayi Math.
The department provides a value-based, high-quality learning experience that prepares students for future professional challenges through excellent education, intellectual interaction, and training. The department has a team of highly qualified and competent faculty members with a wide range of industry and academic expertise. The department has well equipped and fully functional laboratories, viz Electrical Machines laboratory, Control Systems laboratory, Power Electronics laboratory, Engineering Practices laboratory, Power System Simulation laboratory, Electronics laboratory, Renewable Energy Systems laboratory and excellent computational facilities with the most up-to-date configuration software, such as AUTOCAD,MATLAB, ETAP and PSCAD, to support academic and research activities.It equips students with in-depth knowledge of the basics and practical applications, allowing them to explore a variety of career opportunities. A Smart Classroom is established in the department to enhance teaching and learning opportunities and enabling faculty to educate through a range of media.
The department organizes workshops, seminars and guest lectures frequently, which welcomes prominent academicians and industry experts to keep students and faculty mebers up-to-date on the current developments.It also enables students to interact with industry experts and professionals from other renowned institutions. Students go on industrial visits and undergo internships, and in-plant training at reputable organizations to gain practical knowledge.Industrial projects are encouraged for students. Students are also encouraged to present papers at symposiums and conferences. Students are regularly offered industry-relevant value-added courses such as electrical wiring, embedded C programming, Arduino programming, and MATLAB programming. Placement training programmes from third semester onwards are being organized for the welfare of students.Faculty members are encouraged to present papers at the national and international conferences, and to publish papers in reputable journals.Students are also advised to receive memberships from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and Indian Society of Technical Education. In addition to the central library, the department has its own library with significant volumes of textbooks and technical journals in order to cater to the requirements of the students.
The department has an Energy Club that brings together students, academicians, entrepreneurs, and the general public to motivate and teach them about energy saving and safety procedures. Quiz Club, also actively organise events for the benefit of students'. The department has established a Centre for energy studies to strengthen the fundamental competence of students and faculty members. Special emphasis is laid on renewable energy sources such as photovoltaic and wind, in tune with emerging technological needs and challenges.
