Employability Skills Development Practice (ESDP), (11 July 2019)
The Employability Skills Development Practice was conducted by Dr.Sankara Narayanan, Special Officer, Placement and Training, Amrita Institutions, Nagercoil Campus for Students of Amrita Polytechnic College. The faculty members of Amrita Polytechnic organized the programme for student’s welfare. Employability skills is a very basic need for a professional to attain progress throughout his career. It is transferable skill needed for an individual to make him employable, along with good technical understanding and subject knowledge. Dr.Sankara Narayanan interacted with students and sharing his own life experience which is valuable for students’ placement. He motivated student to attain the quality and encouraged them to deserve essential technical consistency. He also trained them to prepare for self-introduction. He has also provided training to students about resume preparation. Students were keenly listened his words and make their own resume by themselves. This practice was most useful for improve their employability skills.
Technical Seminar
A technical seminar on Advances in AutoCAD was conducted for the third year Mechanical Engineering Students of Amrita Polytechnic college from 10 am to 12.30 pm on 22.07.2019. Mr. S. Samraj, Administrator, CADD Centre, Nagercoil gave lecture over the topic Advances in AutoCADD. It fully focused on the trends in recent designing software and techniques. Students learned the shortcuts used in the Designing software and also, they got motivated to learn such software.
Seminar on Iron-Carbon Equilibrium Diagram
A seminar on Iron-Carbon Equilibrium Diagram was conducted for the 2nd year Mechanical Engineering students and Mechanical Sandwich Engineering students of Amrita Polytechnic College from 10.00 am to 12.30 pm on 24.07.2019. It was conducted by Mr. M. SenthilKumaran, Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering, ACET. He thought the Iron-Carbon Equilibrium Diagram. This would give collective details on Engineering Materials and Metrology. It provides a valuable foundation on which to build knowledge of both plain carbon and alloy steels in their immense variety.
Industrial Visit - Ranithottam TNSTC, 2 days 9, 10 Aug 2019
Industrial training program was organised by the faculty members of Amrita Polytechnic College to the second and third year students of Mechanical Engineering and Mechanical Sandwich Engineering. They were taken to Ranithottam TNSTC from 09-08-19 TO 10-08-19. It helps our students to gain the basic knowledge about how an internal combustion engine works and various vehicle structures and components.
Seminar on Disaster Management
Seminar on Disaster Management was conducted for the Second year Students of Mechanical Engineering in the Amrita Polytechnic College premises on 07-08-2019 with the genuine efforts of the faculty members of Mechanical Engineering department. Mr. Sai Suresh, Zonal Coordinator, Sri SathiyaSaiSeva Organization, Nagercoil has conducted Disaster Management awareness program most intensely. He has well-furnished the very basic knowledge about the Disaster Management. This program helped the students to grasp fine knowledge about Disaster Management and its emergency needs. Guiding and encouraging new generation towards these activities ignites lights of the moral society and it will lead them towards readiness to survive in the difficult situations.
Seminar on Non-Destructive Test
Seminar on Non-Destructive Test was organized and conducted for the second year Mechanical Engineering students of Amrita Polytechnic College. Mr. R. Arul Kumar, Director, Nathira NDT Training Institute, Pavoorchatram gave a valuable lecture over the given topic. The source person is embedded with the sound knowledge about the give topic. He lectured about Visual inspection, magnetic particle, testing, liquid penetrant testing, ultrasonic testing and radiography. This seminar helped the students to know about NDT and to gain knowledge about the types of methods used in the factory to identify the quality material.
