Admission to the B.Ed., programme for the Academic Year 2023-24 is made as per the norms set by the Government of Tamil Nadu. Total number of seats available is 100. All the 100 seats are filled by the college directly under management quota following all the rules and regulations prescribed by the Tamil Nadu teacher Education University, Chennai and NCTE, New Delhi.
Admissions under the management quota is made based on merits of the candidates in the eligibility qualification. An admission team consisting of senior members of the faculty is appointed for this purpose to supervise the entire admission process to ensure adherence to the admission criteria and transparency in all the admission related matters.
Admission Processes for B.Ed. under Management Quota

Candidates to visit the College Admissions Office and meet the Admissions Coordinator from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM on all working days to collect Enquiry Form for FREE. Enquiry can also be submitted online.

Applicants can make partial or full tuition fee payment on the spot once provisional admission registration is offered after scrutiny of the relevant documents by the Admissions Coordinator.
If candidates are not able to travel and visit the college in person, he/she may choose to submit online application/enquiry. Cost of the application to be paid through NEFT/RTGS/Demand Draft.
Duration and Eligibility for Admission to the B.Ed. Programme | Amrita College of Education, Nagercoil
Duration
The B.Ed. programme shall be for the duration of two academic years consisting of four semesters. Each semester is spread over for a period of 100 working days (36 hours in a week - 5 or 6 days in a week), excluding the period of examinations and admission.
Eligibility
A candidate shall be eligible for admission to the B.Ed. programme leading to the Degree of Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) provided:
- The candidates should have undergone 10+2+3(15) or 10+2+4/5 pattern of study and passed the qualifying examination conducted by the respective State Board or CBSE or any other recognized Board of Education / Examination and UG Degree Examination of the UGC recognized Universities in any one of the school subjects offered by the Directorate of School Education at the Secondary / Higher Secondary Education level.
- The three-year Diploma in Engineering shall be treated as equivalent to a +2 course for eligibility for admission.
- Candidates who have passed the U.G. or P.G. Degree under Open University System with 10+2 pattern of School Education examination shall not be eligible for admission.
- Candidates who have studied more than one major subject in Part III/Part IV (under Double / Triple Major System) of UG Degree course should have to choose only one of the main subjects and should have applied for that major subject only. In such cases, marks obtained by the candidates in two / three major subjects shall be taken into account to arrive at the percentage of marks as stipulated in item (ix) herein.
- Candidates, who have passed any degree under Additional Degree Programme or lateral entry mode with less than three years duration, are not eligible for admission.
- Candidates who have passed under the four-year Dual Degree Programme with two major subjects under Part- III are not eligible for admission.
- Candidates who have qualified for the PG Degree (5 years integrated course) under 10 + 2 + 5 patterns of study, shall be considered for admission. In such cases, the marks obtained by the candidates in the first three years (in major and ancillary or allied subjects alone) of the course alone shall be taken into account for admission to B.Ed. The degree programme for the subjects in Tamil/Urdu (Urdu in Self-Financing Colleges only), English, Mathematics, Physical Science (Physics), Physical Science (Chemistry), Biological Science (Botany), Biological Science (Zoology), History, Geography, and Computer Science. The marks obtained by the candidates in the last two years (4th & 5th year) alone shall be taken into account for admission to B.Ed. degree programme for the subjects in Home Science, Economics, Commerce, Political Science, Sociology, Psychology, Logic, Indian Culture, and Philosophy.
- Equivalent Subjects
- Candidates, who have done their UG Degree in Applied Mathematics can apply for Mathematics.
- Candidates, who have done their UG Degree in Applied Theoretical Physics, Geo- Physics, Bio-Physics and Electronics, can apply for Physical Science.
- Candidates, who have done their UG Degree in Applied Chemistry, can apply for Physical Science.
- Candidates, who have done their UG Degree in Advanced Zoology, Bio-Technology, Plant-Biology, and Plant Bio-Technology, can apply for Biological Science.
- Candidates, who have done their UG Degree in Environmental Science and Micro-Biology, can apply for Biological Science.
- Candidates, who have done their UG Degree in Applied Geography, can apply for Geography.
- Candidates, who have done their UG Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology and Computer Application, can apply for Computer Science.
- Post Graduate candidates in Economics, Commerce, Home Science, Political Science, Sociology, Psychology, Philosophy, Logic, and Indian Culture with not less than 50% (irrespective of their UG Marks) of marks in PG Degree or in the interdisciplinary subject, which are being declared equivalent by the respective University can apply.
- Candidates, who have done their PG Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics, are eligible to apply for Home Science.
- Candidates, who have done their U.G. degree in the school subjects: Tamil/Urdu (Urdu in Self-Financing Colleges only), English, Mathematics, Physical Science (Physics), Physical Science (Chemistry), Biological Science (Botany), Biological Science (Zoology), History, Geography, and Computer Science are eligible for admission to B.Ed. However, those who have done the U.G. in the subjects for which equivalence is not covered under the G.O. are not eligible for admission.
- All the B.E./B.Tech. graduates irrespective of their Branch in Engineering/Technology are eligible to study either mathematics or physical science as Pedagogy of School Subject. However the B.E./B.Tech. Graduates in Computer Science related branches and Bio-Technology related branches are also eligible to study Computer Science and Biological Science as Pedagogy of school subject respectively. The reservation of seats for the graduates in B.E/B.Tech in each Pedagogy of School Subject (viz. Mathematics, Physical Science, Biological science & Computer Science) shall be 5% only.
- Candidates who have passed Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with not less than 3 years of duration under lateral entry are also eligible for admission.
- Candidates with the following marks in the UG Degree are eligible for admission
to B.Ed. Degree programme with the subjects such as Tamil/Urdu (Urdu in Self-Financing Colleges only), English,
Mathematics, Physical Science (Physics), Physical Science (Chemistry), Biological Science (Botany), Biological
Science (Zoology), History, Geography, and Computer Science. The marks obtained in UG Degree alone shall be
taken to arrive at the eligibility even if they possess PG Degree in the same subject. For the subject in Home
Science, Economics, Commerce, Political Science, Sociology, Psychology, Logic, Indian Culture, and Philosophy,
PG Degree with not less than 50% marks is mandatory and the subjects in UG and PG shall be the same.

Part-III / IV Major and Allied including Practical [Tamil/Urdu (Urdu in Self-Financing Colleges only), English,
Mathematics, Physical Science (Physics), Physical Science (Chemistry), Biological Science (Botany), Biological
Science (Zoology), History, Geography, and Computer Science] alone shall be taken in to account to arrive at the
percentage of marks mentioned above. If the candidates possess PG Degree in these subjects, the weightage of
marks for the highest qualification in the relevant subject will be given as mentioned in the following table
and added to the base marks for Ranking. However minimum marks mentioned in the ‘item (x)’ is mandatory for the
subjects in Tamil/Urdu (Urdu in Self-Financing Colleges only), English, Mathematics, Physical Science (Physics),
Physical Science (Chemistry), Biological Science (Botany), Biological Science (Zoology), History, Geography, and
Computer Science and not less than 50% of marks for the subjects in Home Science, Economics, Commerce, Political
Science, Sociology, Psychology, Logic, Indian Culture, and Philosophy.
- Candidates with P.G. (Tamil/Urdu (Urdu in Self-Financing Colleges only), English, Mathematics, Physical Science (Physics), Physical Science (Chemistry), Biological Science (Botany), Biological Science (Zoology), History, Geography, and Computer Science) - 4 (four) marks
- Candidates with M.Phil. - 5 (five) marks
- Candidates with Ph.D. - 6 (six) marks
- Candidates with P.G. (Home Science, Economics, Commerce, Political Science, Sociology, Psychology, Logic, Indian Culture, and Philosophy.) - No marks
- Candidates with M.Phil. - 1 (One) marks
- Candidates with Ph.D. - 2 (Two) marks
Weightage of 3 (three) marks for participation in any one of the following co-curricular activities will be added. - NSS [with two years enrolment in NSS and with a minimum of seven days participation in the Special Camp at College (U.G. degree) level alone will be considered].
- NCC [B or C Certificate at college (U.G. degree) level].
- Sports [should have represented the college (U.G. degree) at University/State/National level].
- Marks obtained by the candidates in the PG Degree [Home Science, Economics, Commerce, Political Science, Sociology, Psychology, Logic, Indian Culture, and Philosophy] shall be considered eligible for admission, but weightage marks will not be given as specified above.
- For the students who have done their Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/ Technology, the marks obtained in their Degree shall be taken into account.
- Rounding off the marks to the next higher integer shall not be permitted.
- The candidates who are qualified in UG Degree under Open University System after passing 10th Standard and +2 Examinations shall alone be considered for admission to B.Ed. Degree programme.
- The candidates who are qualified in UG Degree under Open University System without passing 10th Standard and +2 Examinations and subsequently passing 10th and +2 examinations are not eligible for admission to B.Ed. Degree programme.
- Candidates, who have passed PG Degree in Economics, Commerce, Home Science, Political Science, Sociology, Psychology, Philosophy, Logic, and Indian Culture without undergoing 10+2+3 pattern of education, are not eligible for admission.
- In the case of Differently-Abled (Physically and Visually Challenged) candidates, a minimum pass in the requisite qualification is enough.
- However, the basis of selection shall be following the Regulations of the Government of Tamil Nadu/ University Guidelines for Admission to B.Ed. degree programme in force from time to time.
