Intellectual property (IP) encompasses a wide range of intellectual creations, including inventions, literary and artistic works, and symbols, names, images, and designs used in commerce, all of which are protected by a set of exclusive rights such as copyrights, trademarks, patents, industrial design rights, and trade secrets. It is ingrained in our society. The rapid pace of modern science has necessitated the formation of a central strategy to manage the production, protection, and commercialization of intellectual property, which has resulted in new and beneficial innovations. The Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Cell was established at Amrita College of Engineering and Technology, Nagercoil, to support the creation and protection of intellectual property. The IPR cell aims to enhance public awareness of intellectual property activities and identify more IPs. It constantly stimulates, facilitates, and safeguards the scientific research of the Institution's faculty, research scholars, and students.
Objectives :
- To create IPR awareness among the institution's faculty members and students.
- To provide training for future endeavours including patent filing processes, IPR procedures, project screening, draught creation, and filing of patents with the opposing authority.
- To create and maintain the institution's IPR policy. Disseminate the IPR Policy to all stakeholders, including the institution's inventors and students in general.
- To encourage technological developments that will improve people's lives and protect the environment.
- To examine and recommend inventions, among other things, to see if they may be converted to patents or Copy Rights.
