There is always a growing demand for good English teachers. With this in mind, the institution adopts the Principled Eclecticism approach, deciding on the most suitable techniques and applying the most appropriate methodology in Pedagogy of English. 

The student teachers are trained to prepare lesson plans and practice teaching skills. Demonstration classes are given on teaching of Poetry, grammar, prose, drama, composition and plays. Various methods like Grammar translation, Bilingual, Direct Pinsleur language learning, etc are being taught. The Internship programme strengthens their Teaching proficiency.

Four skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) are expected to be mastered to achieve the objective of learning English.

A fully computerized 30-seater language lab with state-of-the-art facilities provides an authentic language learning experience. To complement classroom lectures, audio-visual sessions and online examinations are conducted as a part of the teaching-learning process. 

 

Candidates, who have completed their Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in English, are eligible for admission to B.Ed Degree Programme in Pedagogy of English. As per the norms of TNTEU, Chennai minimum marks with respect to community (OC- 50%, BC/BCM- 45%, MBC/DNC- 43%, SC/SCA/ST-40) is mandatory.

  • To enhance the speaking skill of student teachers frequently classes are organized by the institution. Communicative English Training was arranged in the College on 6th March 2019. Dr. Ambika Pillai, Asst. Professor, S. T. Hindu College, Nagercoil was the resource person. The session focused on conversation method and projective techniques. 2018
