Q) What is GPA?

A) GPA for a semester is the ratio between the “sum of the products of the number of credits for courses acquired and the corresponding grade points” to “the sum of the number of credits for the courses in the semester.

Example:

Now suppose if you have 8 subjects and you score A+ grade in all 8 subjects. Now A+ is having 9 points. This grade point will be multiplied by the credits of the subjects. Let us say 6 the subjects have 3 credits and 2 subjects have 2 credits. So, you will have something like this:

Subject 1: A+ grade: 3 Credits = 9x3=27

Subject 2: A+ grade: 3 Credits = 9x3=27 and so on for the 6 subjects.

Subject 7: A+ grade: 2 Credits = 9x2=18

Subject 8: A+ grade: 2 Credits = 9x2=18

Now you will sum all the weights you get e.g in this case 27+27+27+27+27+27+18+18=162+36=198 (A)

Now sum up all the credits you have which is in this example is 3 for 6 subjects and 2 for 2 subjects i.e., 22 in total (B).

Now your GPA will be A/B = 198/22 =9 (/10).
