COWE - ICT Academy Centre for Women Empowerment – Powered by DXC Technologies – Amrita College of Engineering and Technology
Women’s empowerment and gender equality are essential to global progress. No nation can progress unless its women have equal access to opportunities with adequate safety and security. In India, women face a range of structural and social barriers that hinders their progress and eventually limit India’s ability to modernize. Women’s equal participation in the labor force would unlock trillions of dollars for global development.
To address this, DXC Technology has partnered with ICT Academy in implementing a unique social initiative to empower deserving and under-privileged 10,000 graduating girl students across the country. This program is being implemented by ICT Academy, establishing the “Centre for Women Empowerment” in selected engineering colleges across the country.
Amrita College of Engineering and Technology, Nagercoil has been selected by the ICT Academy and DXC Technologies for setting-up an exclusive ICT Academy Centre for Women Empowerment, powered by DXC Technologies during the AY 2021-2022.
The initiative will aim at nominating at least 100 girl students studying circuit branches and two women faculty members to undergo the skill development process as outlined below:
ICT Academy is taking several measures to inspire self-learning and recognise the successful members of the Women Empowerment Programme powered by DXC Technologies. It includes the following:
ICT Academy will organize exclusive placement drives for students trained under this program.
ICT Academy shall organize annual student competitions (Technology Hackathons) for the students participating in this training and winners will be recognized through awards and certificates at institutional level and national level.
ICT Academy shall organize the Women Empowerment Summit for all centres jointly, to inspire and empower them across the landscape of their professional careers and personal lives. Industry Leaders and practitioners from DXC Technology and other Corporates would be invited as speakers for this summit. Successful women leaders will be invited to share their experiences, which will inspire young girls.
We are happy to inform that 53 girl students studying B.E (Electronics and Communication Engineering) and B.E (Computer Science and Engineering) have been nominated for the training along with two women faculty members during the AY 2021-2022.
