Vedic Mathematics – Amrita College of Engineering and Technology

Vedic Mathematics is a collection of techniques (Sutras) for solving mathematical arithmetic in an easier and faster manner. It consists of 16 formulas (sutras) and 13 sub-formulas (sub sutras) that can be used to solve problems in arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, and conics.
Swami Bharati Krishna Tirtha (1884-1960) compiled a collection of 16 Sutras and 13 Sub-Sutras. He coined the term Vedic Mathematics to describe methods and techniques for amplifying the principles contained in the aphorisms and their corollaries.

Almost every branch of mathematics is covered by the Sutras. They are applicable even to complex problems involving many mathematical operations. Solving problems using regular mathematical steps can be complex and time consuming at times. Numerical calculations, on the other hand, can be performed very quickly using Vedic Mathematics. Vedic Mathematics is extremely beneficial because it simplifies math learning. One of the most advantageous aspects of Vedic math is that it enriches and improves one's knowledge and understanding of the subject, making it easier to learn.
