The department is well equipped with required experimental setups under various categories such as Strength of Materials, Surveying, Water and waste water Analysis Laboratory, Soil Mechanics, Hydraulic Engineering Laboratory, Construction Materials Laboratory, Highway Engineering and Computer Aided Design & Drafting. These experimental setups are grouped under relevant specialization and established as individual labs. Apart from meeting the University norms, additional equipment are installed in the respective labs for catering to consultancy and research needs of faculty and students.
Class rooms are well furnished and ventilated. Audio visual Rooms are provided with all teaching aids like LCD Projector, Video Player, DVD, Multimedia Computer, Slide Projector, Video Camera, Audio Systems, etc., in order to ensure overall development of students.
The Concepts in Surveying Laboratory is established to allow students to use state-of-the-art surveying and plotting equipment. The functionality of the laboratory lies outside the laboratory, where students are expected to actively survey and plot complicated sets of data points. Total station and GPS survey add value to the future of the students.
Computer Aided Building Drawing Lab:
This lab course enables the student to draft building drawings on computer (Plan, elevation and sectional views) in accordance with development and control rules satisfying orientation and functional requirements for the Buildings with load bearing walls (Flat and pitched roof) – Including details of doors and windows, RCC framed structures, Industrial buildings, North light roof structures, Trusses, Perspective view of one and two storey buildings.
Strength of Materials Lab:
This lab helps to study the strength and different stresses developing in machine parts under different forces Strength of materials most often refers to various methods of calculating stresses in structural members, such as beams, columns and shafts. The methods that can be employed to predict the response of a structure under loading and its susceptibility to various failure modes may take into account various properties of the materials. The lab is equipped with the Universal Testing Machine (UTM), Izod-Charpy test, bending moment calculation etc.
Hydraulic Engineering Lab:
The study of pumps and turbines and its mechanisms will enhance students’ knowledge to choose the right equipment for right work. This lab gives overall knowledge about the production of power from water by using the different turbines. The lab is set up with Centrifugal Pump, Jet Pump, Submersible pump, Pelton Turbine, Kaplan Turbine, Orifice meter etc.
Highway Engineering Lab:
The Highway Engineering Laboratory is a teaching and research laboratory equipped to conduct standard tests for bitumen pavement design and paving materials to assess their engineering properties and behaviour. More
Construction Materials Lab:
It consists of building materials testing instruments for testing of concrete, cement, soil, steel, aggregates, rock, wood, etc., which helps students to check the quality of the materials to ensure products are fit for purpose. This lab highly motivates students to innovate new building materials which are cost effective. Universal Testing Machine, Flexure testing machine, Torsion Testing Machine, Le-chatelier apparatus etc., are used in the laboratory.
Soil Mechanics Laboratory:
The student learns the capacity to test the soil to assess its Engineering and Index properties. Students are able to understand the fundamental concepts of mechanics of granular materials including the behaviour of multiphase materials and their constitutive behaviour. Water and Waste Water Engineering Laboratory:
The environmental engineering laboratory offers students’ hands-on exposure to EPA approved water and wastewater quality testing procedures as is normally done at a water and wastewater treatment plant. It is equipped with state-of-the-art gas chromatograph, spectrophotometers, turbiditymeter, COD reactors, BOD incubators, bacterial incubators, pH meters, conductivity meters, dissolved oxygen probe, digital titrators and other equipment dedicated to water and wastewater quality analysis.
