ENGLISH LANGUAGE CLUB

The English Club aims to provide students with more exposure to English through enhancing the English-speaking skills and providing an English- rich environment to the students in the college through various development activities in English throughout the academic year.

Objectives of the club:
The main objectives are,
  • To create a recreational and consolidating opportunity for students to learn and practice English language.
  • To enhance the learning opportunities for the students.
  • To set new horizons for the students learning English, through the medias they daily use.
  • To engage them in cooperative tasks.

Activity of the club:

Communicative English Training:

A club is to enhance students in English communication with their entire participation. An inaugural function was conducted by the English department. The programme was held on 1st February, 2020 at 11:30 A.M, at the Seminar hall, Amrita College of Education, Erachakulam. The student teacher Ms. J. Athithya welcomed the guest and the gathering. In the inaugural function of English club, Mrs. K. S. Priya, Assistant Professor, Department of Science and Humanities, Amrita College of Engineering and Technology, a person with a well stuff in English communication, was invited as the chief guest. The program was coordinated by Mrs. S. K. Sheeja, Department of English, Amrita College of Education. The Presidential Address was delivered by Dr. S. Krishna Priya, Principal, Amrita College of Education. Our chief guest has inaugurated the English Club and presented about the importance of English Club. The easy way of communicating in English was described clearly by her. Her interaction created a sort of interest in the minds of our student teachers. She also read her creative and imaginative creation of verse in both Tamil and English on various issues of society that prevails around us. Our student teacher Ms. D. V. Vini, spoke a few words on speaking simple English. Next the verse reading was done by our student teacher, Ms. S. S. Lavanya. At the end of the inaugural function, students provided their positive feedback about the session. Finally our student teacher Ms. G. Meera Manoj delivered the vote of thanks.

Presentation Skill:

A club activity to enhance and to teach the student teachers to augment their skill on presentation was conducted by the Department of English. The programme was held on 7th March, 2020 at 2:00 P.M, at the Projector hall, Amrita College of Education, Erachakulam. Dr. Suganthi, Assistant Professor, Department of English, Amrita College of Engineering and Technology, a person with a well stuff in English communication, was invited as the resource person to the English club function. The guest was introduced by Dr. S. Krishna Priya, Principal, Amrita College of Education. The program was coordinated by Mrs. S. K. Sheeja, Department of English, Amrita College of Education. Our Chief Guest gave an idea on Presentation Skill, a necessity part of the student teachers. As a part of the activity, ideas for creative presentation of a concept was insisted. Expressing with various illustrations the way of presenting an idea with full potential was excellently handled and insisted by the person. At the end of the programme, student teachers Ms. Revathi and Ms. Abhirami provided their positive feedback about the session on presentation skill.

How to Augment your Vocabulary:

A club activity to enhance and to teach the student teachers to augment their vocabulary was conducted by the Department of English. The programme was held on 14th March, 2020 at 11:30 A.M, at the Projector hall, Amrita College of Education, Erachakulam. Mrs. K. S. Priya, Assistant Professor, Department of Science and Humanities, Amrita College of Engineering and Technology, a person with a well stuff in English communication, was invited as the guest to the English club function. The guest was introduced by Dr. S. Krishna Priya, Principal, Amrita College of Education. The program was coordinated by Mrs. S. K. Sheeja, Department of English, Amrita College of Education. Our Chief Guest presented about “How to augment your Vocabulary”. As a part of the inaugural, ideas for creative thinking on various vocabularies were insisted. Amazing words are taught with their appropriate usage. New vocabularies that have never been even thought of are insisted and expressed perfectly by her. Her interaction created a sort of interest in the minds of our student teachers and created a keen interest to learn more vocabularies. She approached with a method of creating an eagerness in the minds to learn more vocabulary through a quiz to grab the student’s attention. At the end of the inaugural function, student teachers Ms. Revathi, Ms. Abhirami and Ms. Gowri Krishna provided their positive feedback about the session on augmenting vocabulary.
