Master of Business Administration (MBA), is one of the most coveted and prestigious educational qualifications in India. Amrita offers a two-year full-time M.B.A Programme as per the regulations and curriculum of Anna University, Chennai.

Objectives of the MBA Programme is to prepare the MBA students

  1. to have a thorough understanding of the core aspects of the business.
  2. to learn and use various management tools to identify, analyse and solve business problems and create business opportunities as well. 
  3. to prepare them to have a holistic approach towards management functions.

MBA graduates are expected to possess necessary managerial skills to fit into any of the above options for which AMRITA provide opportunities to the budding managers through participating in group discussions, attending internships in industries, working in AMRITA Case Study Lab and doing individual semester end business projects to practice what students learn in their class room. Also, AMRITA MBA Faculty (Mostly PhDs) team is well trained to polish the budding managers with a range of soft-skills like communication, motivation, negotiation, etc

During the first year, the course syllabus covers subjects such as Accounting for Managers, Economic Analysis for Business, Corporate Finance, Business Strategies, Human Resource Management, Organisational Behaviour, Leadership, Marketing, Information Technology, Principles of Management, Legal Aspects of Business, Statistics for Management and Total Quality Management.

Goal of the Amrita-MBA programme is to facilitate every student learn and experience as much as they can, to gain expertise in the field they are good at, to reach at top of the ladder in an organization and to become a good leader, to be able to face different challenges and provide best of the best business solutions. During the first year of MBA studies, necessary foundation will be laid, and the students will be assessed about “What are the individual interests of students? and What are they good at (Skills)? Accordingly, students can opt to specialise any two of the following areas:

  1. Marketing
  2. Finance
  3. Human Resource
  4. Systems
  5. Operations
  6. Logistics and Supply Chain
  7. Real Estate and Infrastructure

The curriculum is updated to meet the current challenges and opportunities for the budding managers as per the recommendations from Board of Studies, Anna University, Chennai.  Currently Anna University Regulation 2017. (CHOICE BASED CREDIT SYSTEM) is followed and Regulation 2017 syllabus is taught to the students admitted to MBA programmes from the academic year 2017-2018 onwards.

MBA graduates of Amrita College of Engineering and Technology should be able to achieve the following career and professional accomplishments in the first few years after graduation.

CASE STUDIES LABORATORY

CS Lab has huge collection of business whitepapers, research articles and case studies. In CSL, students typically work in groups on case studies, stories involving one or more reports and/or scenarios. The cases present mostly problems in industry/service sector for which students devise solutions under the guidance of the staff, thus bridging the gap between theory and practice. The following are the advantages for the learners:

  1. Encourage active learning.
  2. Provide an opportunity for the development of key skills such as communication, group working and problem solving.
  3. Increase the students' enjoyment of the topic and hence their desire to learn.

The students are given opportunity to develop problem solving skills through the analysis of case studies of real or hypothetical business scenarios. Several case studies are developed by faculty with a view to impart business skills to the post graduate students in management studies.

MBA LIBRARY

Our MBA Library has specialized collections of Books, Journals & other resources on subjects relating to management, business and allied areas such as social sciences and topics of general interest. Collections ranging from printed books, e-books, back volumes and CDs \ DVDs.

The library offers an extensive collection of physical and digital resources comprising print books and e-books, print and e-journals, an exhaustive range of databases, reference titles, case studies, DVDs/CDs and other materials. The library is automated using the most advanced library management systems.

Ekalavya Club - A self-learning club for management students created with a view to improve personal skills, enhance creative thinking, and develop managerial skills, thereby to groom the student’s calibre.
